Folio: Within the text. Beyond the page.

Explore a work through passages, themes, references and later research.
Published

October 21, 2026

Folio connects close reading with interactive maps of a work’s themes, passages, references and later research. Select an idea, inspect the supporting passage, and follow its connections while keeping the source text close at hand.

The first public alpha explores Characterizing the temporal dynamics in functional connectivity measured with fMRI, a dissertation on changing patterns in functional brain networks. The edition includes the chapters selected for publication; additional corpora and local research tools are not part of this release.

What to explore

  • Text maps passages and their topic groups, with a path back to reading.
  • Connections and References reveal the works cited and where they enter the dissertation.
  • Beyond connects the original research to a reviewed selection of later work.
  • Foundation offers composition, language and coverage views.

Selections carry between layers so readers can follow an inquiry without losing their place. The maps reuse retained analysis rather than generating answers or running models in the browser.

This is an early public alpha. Topic labels and spatial arrangements support exploration, not definitive scientific conclusions. Coverage and extraction fidelity remain incomplete; the guide explains the analytical approach and its limits.
